The 2002 to 2004 XJR1300 carried on the carburetted 1251 cc air-cooled four with the same steel double-cradle frame. Reviewers describe a brutish, rewarding retro bike with soft front suspension, limited ground clearance and strong R1-derived brakes. Tuning could lift output to roughly 120 hp.
